A gentle first walk into the Atlantic Forest: how it works, what lives here, and how to move through it with confidence.

Launching soon · experiences in preparation
Ubatuba · São Paulo · Brazil
Small-group experiences in the forest above Ubatuba — guided by local knowledge, planned around safety, supported in English and Japanese, and designed to give back to the forest itself.
Why Ubatuba Wild
Anyone can point you to a trailhead. Ubatuba Wild is designed to answer the questions that come right after “it's beautiful” — where, with whom, how, and what if.
Rooted in the Sertão do Itamambuca, not learned from a map. The forest, its rivers and its moods after rain, read the way locals read them.
Each experience is planned before, during and for emergencies: weather and route checks, briefings, communication and response plans.
Ask, plan and understand everything in English, Japanese or Portuguese — before you book and on the trail.
A defined share of eligible booking revenue is intended for local conservation — published openly once operations begin.
Experiences
From a first, gentle walk to a full day in the wild. Each experience will have its difficulty, duration and requirements stated clearly before you book.
These experiences are prototypes in preparation. They are not yet available for booking. Routes, distances, meeting points and prices will be published only after field mapping and the required authorizations.

A gentle first walk into the Atlantic Forest: how it works, what lives here, and how to move through it with confidence.

Deeper forest, more varied terrain and time to slow down — for travelers with some walking experience who want more than a viewpoint.

A full day in the forest for experienced, well-prepared hikers. Requirements will be explained clearly before any booking.
Safety
We don't eliminate nature's risks. We prepare for them.
The Atlantic Forest is extraordinary — and real. Weather changes, terrain is uneven, and in many places there is no phone signal. Every experience is designed around a clear process for what happens before you go, while you're in the forest, and if something doesn't go to plan.
Ubatuba Wild has not started operating yet. The system below is the standard every experience is being built on — not a description of services already running. As each part becomes operational, this page will say so.

For international travelers
Plan in English or Japanese, understand exactly what to expect, and know who's with you in the forest.
Planning, briefings and guidance available in clear, practical English — focused on what matters: understanding the plan and staying safe.
Japanese support from planning to the trail. Ubatuba Wild's roots include many years lived in Japan.
Ubatuba is warm, humid and often rainy — conditions can change within hours. Weather is assessed before every outing.
A planned safety system before, during and for emergencies — explained openly on our safety page.

Community
The people who live around the forest know it best. The goal is simple: when you explore it with Ubatuba Wild, more of what you spend stays with them.
Working with people who grew up with these trails, whenever possible.
Meals and snacks from the region, prepared by people from the region.
Buying from small local businesses and artisans rather than from outside.
Transport, lodging and services from the region, recommended because they're good.
The Sertão do Itamambuca is home to a quilombola community whose history is tied to the land, the forest and the Itamambuca river. The goal is for tourism to benefit its families directly: paid work as local guides, food and products bought from the community, and value that stays in the territory.
This is an intention, not an announced partnership. Any collaboration will be designed together with the community and its association, and published here only once it is agreed.
Partners will be named only once partnerships are real and agreed. We won't list anyone we haven't worked with.
Conservation
The forest is the reason you come. A business that depends on it should help protect it — in a way you can check, not just believe.
Once operations begin, Ubatuba Wild intends to dedicate a clearly defined portion of eligible booking revenue to local conservation initiatives. Contributions and destinations will be published transparently.

A specific share, set in advance — not “a part of profits” that nobody can check.
What was contributed, to whom and when — shown on this page.
Directed to initiatives that protect the Atlantic Forest in the Ubatuba region.
This ledger will be filled with real figures once operations begin. Until then it stays empty — on purpose.

The face behind Ubatuba Wild
I grew up in the Quilombo do Sertão do Itamambuca, in Ubatuba — a quilombola community surrounded by the Atlantic Forest. Those trails and rivers were my backyard until I was 17.
Then I moved to Japan, where I lived for many years and worked as a welder in Saitama. After a long time between two cultures, the idea became clear: to build a bridge between visitors from abroad and the place where I grew up.
And that bridge has to work in both directions. Ubatuba Wild is being built so that the experiences create work and income for families of the Quilombo do Sertão do Itamambuca — together with the community, and on its terms.
